BUFFINGTON, Adele

(1900–1973)

   Born Adele Burgdorfer, Buffington is often considered, along with fellow screenwriter Betty Burbridge, as a writer whose talents, because she was a woman, were wasted on low-budget Westerns. Whether wasted or not, her talent was responsible for the script or story of over 100 Westerns throughout the B Western era. She began her career in Hollywood as a teenager working on set for Thomas Ince. She often used the masculine pseudonyms Colt Remington and Jess Bowers.
